Situations Indicating a Weak Immune System
Anadolu Health Center Hospital Cardiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Nevrez Koylan, who reminds that healthy eating, regular exercise and sleep, stress management, hygiene, and not smoking strengthen the immune system, shared 11 symptoms indicating a weak immune system:
Frequently getting infections
One of the most common symptoms of a weak immune system is frequently getting infections. If you experience colds, flu, urinary tract infections, or other infections several times a year, your immune system may be weak.
Slow healing wounds
If you notice that your wounds and cuts are healing longer than usual, this could be a sign of a weak immune system. A healthy immune system ensures that wounds heal quickly and effectively.
Constantly feeling tired
Constantly feeling tired and not energetic can also be a symptom of immune system problems. Chronic fatigue can occur when the immune system strains to fight off infections.
Encountering skin problems
Skin health is a reflection of our immune system. If a person frequently experiences skin infections, redness, eczema or psoriasis problems, this could indicate a weak immune system.
Experiencing digestive problems
The immune system is closely related to the digestive system. If you are experiencing chronic digestive problems such as diarrhea, constipation, bloating or gas, it would be beneficial to strengthen your immune system.
Chronic sinusitis
Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinus cavities and is generally considered a sign of immune system problems.
Allergic reactions
Immune system problems can cause the body to overreact to substances that are normally harmless. If you frequently experience allergic reactions, this could indicate that your immune system is not functioning properly.
Fever and chills
Unexplained bouts of fever and chills could indicate that your body is trying to fight off an infection and that your immune system is strained.
Swelling in lymph nodes
Persistent swelling in the lymph nodes can be a symptom of immune system problems. Lymph nodes are part of our immune system and can swell while fighting infections.
Autoimmune diseases
The immune system can sometimes attack the body’s own cells, leading to autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis are serious symptoms of immune system problems.
