The Miraculous Effects of Breathing Correctly

With the effect of emotional changes such as anxiety, stress, excitement, fear and panic we experience over time, we forget to breathe correctly and change our breathing zone, which can cause us to feel unwell emotionally and physically and even experience health problems. Specialist Clinical Psychologist Dabağer, who draws attention to the relationship between breathing and stress, tells about breathing exercises you can do at home.

1. Abdominal Breathing

Close your eyes and get into a comfortable position. Place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Breathe in your natural flow, but focus on your breathing as you do so. When applying this method, you must inflate your diaphragm, not your chest. Having your hands in the areas where you breathe will help you feel the flow of your breath and check whether you are breathing correctly.

2. Equal Breathing

In this breathing exercise, it is essential to breathe through your nose. Count to four as you inhale. Likewise, count to four as you exhale. You can apply this breathing exercise, especially when anxious and stressed. Thus, you can relieve the stress in your nervous system in a short time.

3. Breathing Exercise

We often deal with anxiety, fear and worry throughout the day. In such moments, you can use the power of 4-7-8×7 breathing exercises to relax.

While doing this exercise, count to 4 and inhale through your nose. Then hold your breath, count to 7, and exhale slowly through your mouth as you count to 8. Doing this in 7 sets may make you feel relaxed and reduce your worries.
